Term 3 News

Term 3 is off to a flying start, with so much happening already. Special upcoming events this term include incursions, Book Week, athletics carnivals plus much more!

Incursions

Last week we attended an incursion by the Water Corporation, as part of NAIDOC week. At the incursion, students learned about ways that Aboriginal people could find water in the natural environment. Students also examined a range of Aboriginal art works and interpreted the meaning from the symbols used. Overall it was an informative and interesting session.

Later this week students will also be attending an incursion on 'River Food Web' by the South East Regional Centre for Landfill. Students will be learning about the river and wetland ecosystems, with the purpose of extending awareness of sustainability.

Information Technology
This term the students have been building their skills in Information Technology. Tasks so far have included typing up their Big Write texts, to improve their typing and editing skills. Students are encouraged to practise their typing skills at home wherever possible, to keep improving their speed and accuracy.

Resilience
A recent school-wide focus has been resilience and the ability to 'bounce back'. As part of their learning, students have created some colourful posters which are currently displayed on the classroom wall. I am impressed with the quality of the posters, and the message being communicated. Resilience is an important life skill for everyone to keep working on.

Literacy Pro
Room 12 is getting close to reading a total of 3 million words. Well done to the award winners so far, particularly to Shiam who has achieved his Bronze certificate and to Rafi, Shella and Arman who have Red certificates. Congratulations also to Riley, Meraj, Iraj, Shayla, Yasaman and Olivia who have their Blue certificates. I look forward to seeing more students receiving their certificates this term.
