Talk to Teach

Dear parents and students, In Week 5, students will undertake a speaking and listening task that requires some preparation at home (nothing too arduous). Students will also be given time in class to prepare. Please read the task below carefully. Talk to Teach This term, we will be focusing on giving and following clear oral instructions. As part of our Speaking and Listening activities, students will give a short (5 min)  “Talk to Teach”  presentation. Your child will teach the class how to  make  something simple.  They will need to bring in the item they have already made, and then  physically demonstrate and explain how to make a second one of the same item , showing each step of the process.   Some ideas are as follows: ·   Teach a craft:  a card, mosaic, cartoon drawing, plasticine object, bead necklace, ‘Beado’ creation, easy ‘Lego’ creation, easy ‘KINEX’ creation, easy ‘MOBILO’ creation, very simple origami, cardboard box creation, egg-carton creation…etc. ·   Teac

Room 12 has had a wonderful start to 2018 and so far we’ve been getting to know each other, establishing routines/expectations, forming collaborative learning groups and commencing the formal learning program. Motivational work (homework) has started and all of the tasks set for Term 1 are posted on this blog, under the heading of  Motivational Work for Term 1 .  In the first week we created a time capsule which will be opened at the end of the year. The time capsule contains works from each student, including a letter to their end of year self with their feelings, hopes and goals for the year. The capsule also includes an “All about me” summary, which is a personal profile of the students in their first week of school. It will be interesting to we see how far the students will have come, by the end of the year. Students also created self-portraits, which are displayed on the classroom wall.
